Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Monsters Corporation Foundation has focused on one of the most important areas of military support—providing tactical medicine.
Providing assistance to the wounded at the pre-hospital stage is primarily aimed at eliminating preventable causes of death, following principles that take into account the threat of combat operations. Up to 87% of combat deaths occur before the wounded reach a medical facility. The fate of the wounded often depends on the person who provides them with first aid.
Preventable deaths are deaths that could have been prevented by providing first medical aid. The main causes of preventable deaths on the battlefield are critical (massive) hemorrhage—60%, tension pneumothorax—33%, airway obstruction—6%. The algorithm for providing assistance is structured as follows: from stabilizing the most life-threatening conditions to less threatening ones. Death from massive hemorrhage occurs within several tens of seconds to several minutes, from airway obstruction within 2 to 7 minutes, from tension pneumothorax within several tens of minutes to several hours. It is impossible to provide assistance without the necessary equipment. Unfortunately, the state still cannot fully provide all military personnel with tactical first aid kits for self-aid and combat medic backpacks for providing assistance to personnel. Therefore, the decision was made to purchase quality tactical medical supplies, namely tourniquets approved by the TCCC committee or Ukrainian-made tourniquets (SICH, DNIPRO), occlusive dressings, hemostatic bandages, decompression needles, and more.
As well as to assemble medic backpacks for providing assistance to the wounded by combat medics who have undergone additional training and are responsible for providing emergency medical care at the point of injury in a combat environment, as well as for providing primary care and evacuation from the point of injury and have limited access to medical equipment and resources.
To assemble such expanded backpacks, the foundation purchases all types of rescue litters, junctional tourniquets, BVMs, intraosseous access devices, oropharyngeal airways, cricothyrotomy kits, and other equipment that increases the chances of survival for the wounded at the pre-hospital stage. All of this, unfortunately, consists of very expensive medical devices, but they truly save lives.
Since February 2022, the foundation has purchased tactical medical supplies worth more than 110 million UAH. In 2023, 560 backpacks and nearly 7,000 first aid kits were distributed.
